Getting Up To Speed

It seems I always have the best of intentions regarding my blogging habits. However I almost always fall short on actually getting my butt over here to do so.

Let’s play a quick round of getting up to speed..

Thanksgiving was wonderful! My big brudder Mike came in with his boys, Michael and Steven for the holiday. I was so excited they would be coming in that I spent most of the days b4 hand frantically cleaning my house and bugging Katy with “My brudder’s coming .. my brudder’s coming” random statements.. LoL

This was the 1st Thanksgiving we’ve had with my brother Mike, his boys, and my parents since 1995. That was also the year I met my sister-in-law along with my nephews in person for the 1st time. {We’re an extended family of snow-birds from Chicago with my parents heading south many years earlier.} Thanksgiving of 95 was also the last we would have as a family with all 4 of us kids together as a family. We lost our youngest sister Missy shortly after new years in 96.

To say the holidays are a bummer is a bit of an understatement around here. We make the best of it and pull out all the stops for my midget but everyone has a hidden sense of sadness without my sister here to join in on the fun. The guys coming in for the holiday brightened everyone’s spirits and really made it a rawkin good time to all. We ate until we were stuffed. Many mud pies were passed around for the guys and the midget. {Mudpie is my brother and his children’s fave dessert. My SIL taught me how to make them years ago and it’s a staple in the house when they visit. The midget has adapted to this addiction of oreos and chocolate pudding as well.}

The Brudder found a sweet ‘34/’36 pickup truck to become his latest Rat Rod project. With the help of Daddy-O they hunted it down and got it loaded for the trip back to Indiana with the guys. The midget and nephews stripped a ‘84 chevy silvy they found to round out my grease monkey family festivities. The short few days came and went quickly but we enjoyed every minute.

December arrived with a whirlwind of crap to get done. Shopping, wrapping and cooking was the majority of the month. Along with every minute of the day seeing wall to wall purses to fill Christmas orders and last minute rush trips to FedEx for those customers whom waited till 2 days b4 Christmas to have a custom made purse order placed.

The Brudder had promised to try and come back down for Christmas. I was so excited at the idea of having big bro here two holidays in a row let me tell ya. It was so hard not to call him every day asking hey when are ya coming? His birthday came on the 21st the poor old guy is now getting up there at 37. I tried a few times to reach him but missed the chance to talk to him on his birthday. Then it was Christmas the next week, Brian’s 35th birthday came on the 26th. Missed talking to that turd bird on the phone too. But mom reached him and had good news to share.

They were maybe both coming down soon for a short visit and to pick up a few more antique trucks. Daddy-O found them (3) a ‘55 ‘56 and ‘57 all chevy. The guys were stoked! Dad was out and about with John hunting down another classic piece of american metal. I popped in to see mom on my way home from shopping. We decided to call Mike see what he was up to. “Hey sis we’re loading up will be heading out in a cpl hours see you in the morning” … Umm we’re?? Yeah he says Brian is coming with! Kick ass I think to myself then ask Mike umm is he dying or something? Does our brother need a kidney? Ya know he can only get em from a few ppl and you and I are top on that list of folks.. He laughs at me as I wonder how he talked our brother into making the trip down. {For those that don’t remember Brian lived here a few years ago after we lost Missy. He really hated the south but gave it a try for something new and to be closer to mom. He went back home and now lives in Wisconsin, it’s hard as hell to get him back here.} He laughs again tells me he loves me and will see us later. {It’s a 10hr ride from Mike’s place to here} Stoked about the trip and that they are on the way and we had no clue until I called I go home to clean like a mad woman.

Hey Katy… Guess what? My Brudders are coming my Brudders are coming!! Instant message — Hey Katy.. My brudders will be here in 6 hours.. Hey Katy my brudders will be here in 2hrs.. I’m so surprised she didn’t kill me or virtually find a way to kick my ass online! Can you paypal an ass kicking I wonder? We already know it will let us give our 2cents out..

The visit was great!

Visiting - Truck Hunting - Yapping - Hanging out watching rat rod dvds we had a blast. The last day they were here I slept for most of it with a migraine so bad I swear to god I could smell pain.

But I did go over for a late belated b-day cake and visiting with the brudders b4 they went to bed. They were heading out at 4am that night. Around 12am I hugged, kissed, and told them both how much I love them. Went home and spent the rest of the new year with my hubby.

So how was my new year’s eve spent?

Being married to my sweetheart, mothering a midget that completes my world, being the daughter to two unbelievably loving parents, and hugging my big brothers. How else could it have been any better? I honestly don’t think it could have been unless you put Ed McMahon on my door step with a check for a cool million in my name.

Christmas was also the bomb!

The midget got everything he wanted including the xbox 360 and the tiniest damn thing I’ve ever seen an ipod nano. Yet again another holiday for the kid where we went all out. I know Ashley and I spent about $1000.00 and I know Dad dropped about $1500.00 yeah that kid is way mega spoiled.. LoL But when you think of it in terms of gifts they weren’t wall to wall since the going price for each was like $100. Plenty of new guns for hunting season and 4wheeler goodies too..

Hope everyone had a great holiday and is happily enjoying the new year.

Much Love - Mindy
