We had a blast Saturday night at the Edge of Madness!!
It wasn’t really a bad drive from our place down to Monroe,La. Took us about 2hrs to get there. Felt like I got behind every turtle slow driver there was on the road though. Once we made it to the parking lot the Midget and Z got a chance to see just how freaking scary it sounded he had a sudden tummy ache. Once he heard the chain saws and saw the ppl running some crying out of the exit gate he was doubling over in fake tummy pain. He agreed to go in just one haunt they had 3 total on the site. I paid our $25 each to gain enterance and off we went for the first line.
We spent about 30 minutes in line for the Insane Asylum they had wonderful shows going on during the wait. The performers threw glow sticks to the crowd every so often. I ended up with two a green and then an orange stick so both boys got one. John made me promise to take him inside and if he was scared we would hit the first exit door we found. I promised and we went in. We stuck Ash in the front of the line, Z behind him then John, finally I was last in our little train of holding on to the shirt tails. There never was an exit door until the end. The Midget kept saying mom where is the exit door!!!
It was wonderful! Not as scary as Reaper’s Realm my brother takes us to in Chicago but was a great display. Ash had on one of those GM Tech shirts with his name on the breast pocket so that gave fuel to the actors in the haunt. It was too funny.. One woman screamed out Ashley — Ashley — Come fix my sink there is a problem with it. Ashley I think the blood and guts clogged the sink — Ashley!! That really freaked out John every time an actor called his Dad by his first name. Like they really were dead ppl cause how else would they know his name.. Umm well son see daddy has it printed on his freaking shirt..
After we exited that haunt we tried to get the kids to get in line for the next one. That so didn’t happen. We set them at the concession stand to play pool and grind on mass quantities of nachos and coke. Ash lead us to the line for the next haunt the Factory. After about 20 minutes in line I couldn’t tolerate the tweens any longer and we left for the last and final haunt the House of Tormented Souls. About 30 minutes into that line Ash had more than enough of the screaming tweens smacking into him repeatedly to get away from a chain saw holding monster. We left that line grabbed the boys and headed home. We had a blast just wish the boys would have gone into the other two haunts and that the tweens could have been controlled better. There is nothing more that pisses me off while spending ages in line is for a herd of tweens to line jump. I really need to work on my temper with the twits in public these days I tell ya.
We stopped for Johnny’s pizza on the way out of La and the boys loved it. The pizza was so great we thought about getting another just to take home.. The boys fed the games quarter after quarter until they were too tired to play anymore. It actually was a great night I’m glad we went.
Course the best part was the fuel both boys gave us to pick on them with for the next few weeks. I still can’t belive as excited as John was to go he totally chickened out.. How was your weekend?
