Even as I type this I find it terribly hard to belive my baby boy is now 11 years old today..
The midget woke up to a sugary sweet birthday stack of pancakes with powered sugar, whipped cream, syrup, butter and candles. Sausage and juice on the side to round out the mad crazy sugar high he was about to experience. He then ran next door to my parent’s house to open a present before school. He opens a morning present with them every year then one here at home after school. Then we usually try to get him to hold out for the rest of them on the day of his party which is usually the first Saturday after since he is a school time bday boy.
The gift he opened at Dad’s was one of those audio game system rocker chairs that plugs into the surround sound and his xbox. He totally loved it and it was hard to keep him from trying to spend the next hour putting it together to test out b4 leaving for school. When he came home from school we had strung balloons and streamers all over. I decided to muck with the kid’s head and gave him a card with $1 in it. Told him that was our gift for the day and the rest he would get at his party on Saturday. To make matters worse I sent him off to his room to gather dirty clothes for the wash. He looked deflated by that stingy ass $1 but said thanks mom and went to his room to get the clothes. He immediately ran back out with a HUGE smile on his face! Waiting for him right inside the door of his room was the new trick bike he had asked for. He was so excited, he paused to ask if he still needed to go get laundry.. LoL I helped him carry it outside and he spent about 15 minutes riding it. His knee is still pretty bad so we didn’t want to push it. He spent the rest of the day playing with the rocker chair and admiring his new bike.
We had a small party just the 5 of us at Mom’s house that evening. John asked me to make his fave dinner country fried steak, mashed potatoes, corn, brown gravy, mac n cheese, and rolls. I swear that kid was so stuffed after dinner I have no idea how he managed to put away all that cake and ice cream. He had a blast though and even had a small cake eating contest with grandpa to see who could eat more of it in one sitting.. LoL
